Why choose a drumming circle?
During their musical education children and young people use drum rhythms and percussion to create spontaneous music together. They get a chance to improvise their own music and express themselves in a way that is not dependent on verbal skills. The young people get physical exercise, enhance their musical skills and learn social and group skills, with team building and fun thrown in for good measure.

Why choose an African drumming workshop?
Children and young people come to value cultural diversity when they learn about the history and tradition of African drumming. The children are taught simple and effective rhythms and the stories behind them, with the emphasis on the significance of drumming, dance and song in the African way of life. This also fosters a positive world view of African culture.

Why choose a facilitated group?
Our fully-trained facilitators make learning easy, fun and exciting. Our facilitators use tried and tested games and exercises, enabling the youngsters to reach a level of competence, which is extremely satisfying in a relatively short space of time. The feeling of achievement and well being empowers everyone, resulting a positive musical experience.

We currently work with several Borough Councils & Music Services, including Hampshire County Council, EHDC & Portsmouth Music Services and YMAZ (youth music action zone).
