Community & Youth Groups

Our ideal is to develop the local community through shared expression and creativity. You don't need to be an accomplished musician, you don't even need to have played a drum before; just join us and you'll see how wonderful, bonding and satisfying that drumming as a community can be.

Drum4Fun are a regular feature of the Multicultural Festival held in Southsea every year. It is important to us that we are involved in such projects, helping to introduce the positive benefits of communal drumming, cultural awareness and celebrate the vibrant nature of these wonderful events.

What Is Community Drumming?
A music-making event where people of any age, sit or stand and play hand drums and percussion instruments from around the world
The group plays improvised rhythms, creating music in the moment
A facilitator leads the group, enabling the participants to express their potential as a community
Everyone is part of the performance, there is no audience
Community Drumming is a fun, easy and safe environment to discover your musical being

The Community Drum Circle is a fun entry-level learning experience that is accessible to anyone who wants to participate. Drum circle participants express themselves collectively by using a chorus of tuned drums, percussion and vocals to create a musical song, together, while having a great time

Drum4Fun, Young People and Musical Activities

How do we motivate young people?

African drumming is cool. The drums are not associated with grandparents or parents. The drums are big, bold and noisy. They give young people a voice that they associate with dance and trance rhythms.
